The Photo Adventure Experience
Staying at Brooks Creek Ranch is an unparalleled experience in itself. Yet right out the front door are a variety of different adventure activities, from the relaxed nature walk with wildlife viewing to the thrill seeking extreme mountain bike ride. Fernie is truly an outdoor playground. To experience these activities for a day or a week is part of what brings renewal to the soul, but taking home the memories to look back on in photos brings a breath of renewal each time you see that picture and long after the trip has happened. Brooks Creek Ranch has partnered with outdoor guide and expert photographer Leanne Nanninga and her company Born to Adventure to help our guests experience the best adventures and never forget them. Not only does she lead our guests on adventures customized for any athletic and skill level, she captures “those” moments along the way, at times that perhaps you don’t think to pick up the camera or are too busy experiencing the adventure itself. Here’s a little taste of what Born to Adventure offers our guests, written by Leanne.
Fernie. Surrounded by natural beauty and waiting for you to indulge in its adventure opportunities!
Do you aspire to hike to the top of the Three Sisters mountain? Catch a fish in the renown Elk River, or hit one of the trails that winds through the Kootenay Rocky Mountains? Memories this good deserve to be captured by a professional photographer. Vacation and adventure photography may be a new concept. You are used to being your own paparazzi with your trusty iPhone or GoPro. A vacation is the perfect time to have a local Fernie-ite show you the gems off the beaten path. Quality photography is an important element to keep these special memories alive.
The adventure could be mini or mighty.
It could be in your comfort zone or ever so slightly out of it. It could be familiar or something you haven’t attempted before. We are a husband and wife team that has 35 years combined experience guiding people on trails, rivers, lakes, rocks and mountains. We can lead you to an unforgettably good time. We can take care of the logistics and safety management if you don’t have the time, inclination or expertise to plan yourself. You choose the activity, or we can help you decide; hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, canoeing, tobogganing, marshmallows over the fire, tubing the river, XC skiing or biking – there are so many options in the Elk Valley!
Spread Photographs out over your vacation.
Another possibility is to have photos and adventures spread over 2 or 3 days during your vacation. Maybe you plan to hike Mt Fernie one day, float the Elk River on tubes the next and end the day with marshmallows around the fire. It’s a wonderful way to capture a more complete story. A photo adventure is great for families. No fuss needed with matchy-matchy clothes or perfect hair (though you can if you want!). Sometimes family portraiture can be hard work and stressful for parents.
A photo adventure will capture the connection with the kids, give you Christmas card or wall worthy images but you get to be in the moments having fun with your family.
Showcase your connection.
A photo adventure is also great for couples – surprise proposals, engagements, adventure wedding shoots, or anniversary celebrations. There is nothing quite like an adventure to showcase your connection with each other. All with the backdrop of an epic Fernie landscape!
‘Freeze’ the fun times with family.
If you are visiting with friends or extended family, a photo adventure is a great way to ‘freeze’ the essence of your fun times together.
Don’t just plan to experience an adventure – capture it forever so you can remember that amazing trip and how it made you feel long after you have returned home. Contact our concierge to arrange for Born to Adventure’s guiding and photography services to be made available on your next trip to Fernie, ensuring it’s an adventure you never forget!
